Lynn’s guest is Anna Rappaport, and an internationally recognized consultant, speaker, and author on strategies for a secure retirement and aging workforce issues. Anna had a 28 year career with Mercer Human Resources Consulting where she was a worldwide partner. She started Anna Rappaport Consulting in 2005. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
Lynn and Anna discuss the idea that the concept of a successful retirement is creating a life portfolio. A life portfolio involves four main components: health, social engagement, pursuits and passions, and location.
Lynn and Anna then discuss the amount of poverty in women who are retired or widowed. Anna states that through her research with the Society of Actuaries, that poverty numbers are markedly higher for single retired women and widows as compared to their married counterparts.
